Summer 2012 Art Monastic Laboratory

In summer 2012, a group Artmonks gathered in Italy for the first 90-day Art Monastic Laboratory program. This experiment valued the artistic process, the caring for the artist as a whole person, and the intentionality of this temporary monastic community as much as the original theater piece that was created during this intensive development period. By engaging in social sculpture in this way, the Artmonks investigated new ways of making art and the individual and collective experience of being an artist in the modern world.
