Art Monastery Project, Spring Newsletter, 2011

Share the Love tour a success!

The 2011 Artmonk Share the Love tour was an enormously rewarding experience in feeling the Artmonk connections all across the U.S. Read Iwona’s report of where we traveled and what the trip was like from the inside.

Do you know a great keyboard player?

We are seeking high-quality, professional, energetic artists and administrators who are inspired by the idea of living in community in the beautiful Italian countryside. Seeking professionally trained AND enthusiastic about both baroque/classical and jazz/rock/folk:
  • pianist/keyboardist
  • bassist/cellist
  • virtuosic soloist on an instrument such as violin, harp, lute.

Check out the Get Involved page for full description, and email programming@artmonastery.org if you or someone you know is up for an adventure in Italy this summer! Additionally, if you’re traveling in Europe this summer and want to visit the monastery or participate as a Worktrader or Intern, we are also accepting those applications now!

New Year’s Artmonk Retreat inspiring, invigorating

In the first weeks of 2011, 26 Artmonks headed down to the Mojave Desert to spend a silent week at the Integratron with Joel & Michelle Levey to further investigate the relationship between creativity & spiritual practice. Full retreat experience here, video coming soon.

Non-profit status official!

You may be thinking: “I thought the Art Monastery was already a non-profit!” We have been in the process of applying for 501(c)3 non-profit tax status in the U.S. for the last few years. Before, tax-deductible donations were processed via our fiscal receiver, Fractured Atlas, who took a small commission of each donation for their services. Now you can make a tax-deductible donation directlys to Gli Amici dell’Art Monastery. This is a huge milestone for the Project and will mean lots of increased benefits for the AMP, our artists, & our supporters. Heartfelt thanks and giant gratitude to Niqui Bott, Edie Heller, Leah Hofkin, and Jim Marketos for your indespensible help on the application.
