Changing Face Moon

Palpitation palimpsest

layers overlaid, no rest

to ride in circles, so boring

again:

just this, just this

art & nature as orphans

stories channeling themselves

into being

now remember when crests were younger

a face of sun wavering, irregular

contractions in the night, wet awake

chalk perimeter, clay river bank

our vows invisible stars

quick-to-see, long seen

notes beneath the words

drawings around the vision

twins, a shield, a golden conch

their eyes’ laughter echoing

on all luminous sides

the song of water.
