Perfect Round Moon

Sitting alone

by a small fire

outside—

white smoke

piles up, turns

evaporates

as tinder greens

orange flame.

Lonely

in a world

& a life

inseparable

from encircling

intimacy.

Outside

with my love—

a wound

of compassion

cherished

for how unerring

it returns me

to earth

& this sitting

upon unspeakably

gentle truth.

Welcome

as you are.

A fire

air

fuel

smoke

& a witness—

there is no

more perfect

round

than this

simple moon.

Go see

for yourself.
