Duetto (Duet)

Childhood synchronized swimming duet partners Suiko Betsy McCall and Sarah Baker parted paths after high school and independently went on to become visual artists. McCall (MFA, San Francisco Art Institute) and Baker (MFA, Goldsmiths) reunited in Calvi dell’Umbria to create an installation in harmony with their history: Baker’s experimental documentary about male synchronized swimmer Bill May, in concert with McCall’s mandalas built on the sacred geometry of the bodies of synchronized swimmers, was the first visual art installation of the Art Monastery in June 2007.
